This is the only lift bridge on the section of The Montgomery Canal that is currently navigable. The navigable section is being extended and a new section is due to reopen in early 2023 although a group of do-gooders is trying to limit boats able to use the new section to horse-drawn boats (Source - report in The Guardian - 25th February 2023)
