This mooring is probably more accurately called Just before Beeston Castle Wharf but the Iron Lock is much easier to find in the books and on the website CanalPlan AC a must website for every serious canal user.
The towpath between Wharton Lock and Beeston Iron lock is at the time we cruised this section of the canal muddy - very muddy - unbelievably muddy, so getting as near to Beeston Iron Lock but staying off the 48-hour moorings was important to us as we are waiting for a delivery from The Netherlands which could take some days.
The mooring is peaceful and quiet with little passing foot traffic but, and it is a big BUT the north-south west coast mainline railway runs past just 50 metres away from the mooring with nothing in between to absorb any sound. We don’t have a problem, however many will.
The internet is pants.
The mooring is on pins.
